Telebirr and CBE are the two most common payment proofs Ethiopian merchants see daily. They use different reference formats and verification rules.
CBE verification
Requires FT reference plus last 8 digits of the receiving account.
Telebirr verification
Requires only the Telebirr transaction or receipt number.
Steps
- 1.Check the receipt logo and provider name first.
- 2.Route CBE payments to CBE verification — never only the FT on a Telebirr form.
- 3.Route Telebirr wallet payments to Telebirr verification.
